UHS Auto / AutoShop Academy ("we", "our", or "us") operates the AutoShop Academy mobile and web application (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information when you use our Service. By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

  • Account Information: Your name and email address when you register or sign in.
  • Google Account Data: If you sign in with Google, we access your name, email address, profile photo, and Google Classroom data (courses, rosters, topics, assignments, and student submissions) solely to power app features.
  • Learning Progress Data: Your quiz scores, module completions, scenario lab results, learning game activity, and assignment grades within the app.
  • Repair Order & Shop Data: Vehicle information, repair order details, MPVI inspection records, and shop task logs you create while using the Service.
  • Usage Data: General app usage information such as session activity and feature interactions, used to improve the Service.

How We Use Your Information

  • To create and manage your account and authenticate your identity
  • To track and display your learning progress to you and your instructor
  • To sync assignments, grades, and announcements with Google Classroom
  • To generate and deliver course content, quizzes, and learning activities
  • To send course-related email notifications and announcements
  • To allow instructors to review repair orders, shop tasks, and MPVI records
  • To improve, maintain, and secure the Service

Google API Usage

AutoShop Academy uses Google OAuth and the Google Classroom API to read course information, student rosters, topics, assignments, and student submission data. We use Google Drive to export quiz results. We access only the minimum data necessary to provide the Service. We do not sell, share, or use your Google data for advertising. Our use of Google APIs complies with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We may share data only in the following circumstances:

  • With your course instructor(s) and school administrators for educational purposes
  • With Google (via Google Classroom and Google Drive APIs) as directed by app features you use
  • With our infrastructure and hosting service providers who help us operate the app, under confidentiality agreements
  • As required by applicable law, court order, or to protect our legal rights

Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by visiting the Delete Account page or by contacting us directly. Upon deletion, your personal information and progress data will be permanently removed within 30 days.

Children's Privacy (COPPA / FERPA)

Our Service is used in K–12 and vocational educational settings and may be accessed by students under 18, including those under 13. We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).

  • We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13 without verifiable parental or school consent.
  • Student educational records are treated as confidential and shared only with authorized school personnel.
  • If you believe a child's data has been collected without proper consent, please contact us immediately for prompt removal.

Security

We use industry-standard security measures — including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS) and access controls — to protect your data. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We strive to protect your information but cannot guarantee absolute security. In the event of a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify affected users as required by applicable law.

  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
